- SYNOPSIS -
Theta Alessandra, the Oracle of Delphi, is under the control of the Supreme Magistrate, a madman determined to use her goddess-like powers to conquer deities and humans alike. Unable to confront him as she would like to, she bides her time and learns the political ropes while trying to save as many lives as possible. The implant linking her telepathically to the Supreme Magistrate begins to pull her into his madness, until she can no longer tell reality from the fictitious world he has created. With her allies exiled beyond the walls, Alessandra turns to Lantos, the Supreme Priest, a demigod as likely to betray her as help her. Lantos promises to help her on one condition – a condition she’s initially unwilling to accept.
Outside of Washington DC, Phoibe, the Silent Queen, struggles to control her rebellion. The army is fractured and unwilling to follow a teenage queen against the military might the Supreme Magistrate has spent years building. Just when she’s about to give up, she finds support where she least expects to: in the very gods she swore to expel from Earth. They’ll help her, if she calls off her war against them.
The Grotesque Prince, Adonis, has spent his life not knowing who he is. On a journey of self-discovery mandated by the goddess Artemis, he returns to the lands he once ruled. Amidst the rubble and destruction caused by the gods, he uncovers the plaque the goddess tasked him to find. Once he reads it, he understands too well the danger he’s placed everyone around him in, especially Alessandra, who woke him from slumber without understanding the consequences of such an action.

My Rating:
My Thoughts: Everybody Has An Angle
Dang it! I can't decide which cliffhanger was worse Omega's or Theta's, but I'm completely hooked and want more! Following up on all that's happened after Omega and showing more insight into the thickening plot made this sequel epic. The more you read the more you learned even when things got murky here and there. I seriously can't wait for the next installment!
Told in multiple perspectives, the novel begins with Alessandra two months ahead. Alessandra is forced into a control symbiosis with Cleon, the Supreme Magistrate, who quickly forces her to do things that make leave Alessandra plagued with guilt. Alessandra wants nothing more than to cut their connection that was implanted by Lantos, but it may cost her life and power.
All the while Alessandra's power is growing and her visions of a fiery future plague her. Meanwhile the silent queen, Phoibe, is fostering up troops while on the run outside of the D.C. safe zone. Phoibe has learned to fight and kill a new threat which is gods possessing humans, and she takes great joy in vanquishing them. But when her forces are barely battling the harsh elements the young queen learns to take on allies she would normally destroy in a heartbeat. The problem is her bloodline curse may be the undoing of them all or something more.
As for Alessandra's beloved Mismatch, or Adonis, he too is seen struggling through his demons, trying to understand is he beast or man? Adonis finds his answer from an unlikely source and eventually returns. His return is not what he expects finding his best friend a betrayer, his descendant in danger and on the run, and his Alessandra locked away and controlled. His only hope in rescuing her is staying away, when Alessandra tells him it's his death that she see time and again in her visions of the end.
Overall, the was a great sequel, I feel as if I really understand the characters better. Their intentions are a bit more clear as the final pieces of the puzzle are revealed to show us what caused this and that. I'm a romantic at heart so I'm truly hoping for a big apocalyptic HEA, but I'm guessing some aren't going to make it. Alessandra is obviously a key player but so many others are as well making the story complex and luring you in. There are a few shocking moments in this novel and I'm so anxious to see how it all play out into the next book. Now I can't say much with out giving up spoilers. But I must at least this Alessandra and Adonis, love them soooooo much! OMG! If there's one couple that survives it better be them, okay that's all I say. So if you haven't read the first novel Omega do so and then grab this one you'll enjoy it.
