My Thoughts: No Luck In Life, But Maybe In Love

This isn't my first book I've read by RaShelle Workman in her style of episode-novels, so knowing the story is spread over 4 parts is good foreknowledge. All that to say this story is a short but interesting contemporary mystery romance. The main character has spunk and isn't afraid to be herself even when in the presence of some HOT men.
Having her life planned out from an early age Lucky Clover Green, a recent law graduate is finding it difficult to nab a job. Lucky lives with her awesome best friend Birdy, who is a semi-famous heiress, while engage to an extremely wealthy man named Edward. But Lucky's lack of a job puts a dent in her oh so lucky life. So heading out to the "IT" club The Attic with Birdy to relax and unwind, Lucky finds herself memorized by the bands sexy lead singer Max. Their attraction is instantaneous and hot. He's the bad boy she knows isn't right for her. However, later on when Lucky finds Edward is a cheat and not the man she thought she knew, Lucky second guess her life decisions. It isn't until Birdy calls with shocking news that she is being arrested for the murder of Edward that Lucky encounter Max again and finds their lives intersect more than they knew. Lucky is set on finding out who really killed Edward and why that someone seems intent on endangering not only those around Lucky, whom she knows and loves, but also seems intent on hurting her too in the process.
Overall, I liked the story but I wanted more. I'm used to the short episodes style by RaShelle, but I want more of Lucky. I loved her and even though crap kept happening to her over and over . . and over again she found happiness. Seriously anyone who endured what she goes through would most likely need a lot of therapy, meds and maybe a stay in the psych ward. The way the forth installment ended left me happy for her (not spoiling a thing) but I still want more, probably because I love them (not saying who) as a couple so sooooo much. Now being serious, I loved how the twists and turns in this whole story had me wrapped in the big mystery, which literally had me saying "Oooh Heck No!" The big reveal is strange in a heartbreaking way, but I'm glad we get to know who's behind all the deaths because people die. So if you are up for a mystery involving a girl just trying to find her career but is suddenly stuck in a huge mess involving her bestie, ex-fiancΓ©, family and possible new love interests, then these books may just float your boat.

Now be forewarned listed below are each books descriptions none are too revealing BUT still read at your own risk. I dare ya!

My Thoughts: DEA OPS, Miscommunications, and Faith

Books intertwining faith are always a welcomed surprise for me, but also make me leary too as the stories sometimes fall flat. However, this story was filled with great dialogue and a story which was suspenseful, but lacked a real sense of romance and complete plot development.
Trying to relax, clear her mind, and feelings about her business partner, Alexandra 'Alex' Callet, hopes that her time in Mexico will help refocus her life. Little did Alex know that her time in Mexico would be more fruitful than just rejuvenating. While out and about Alex is spotted by undercover DEA agents and later approached back home in San Diego by Senior Officer Kevin O'Neil. Alex is give the opportunity to help the DEA in a special operation to catch a killer by posing as his sister, Daniela, whom Alex just so happens to be a mirror image of. But to be put into play as a new agent for the DEA and focus on the mission, Alex will have to distance herself from Jake Taylor, the man she can't help but love. The only problem is Alex may not be able to completely pass as Daniela or there might be leaks in the DEA, with all the 'IF's that could go wrong Alex knows she has one thing to rely on her faith.
Overall, this book has great characters, witty banter and dialogue, but the chemistry infused lacked and some plot points were left unfinished. Alex is definitely a strong beautiful lead character, perhaps too strong, which bugged me a little bit only because she transitioned from civilian to agent so easily; When I'd assume Alex would have been used as an asset, but what do I know I'm not a DEA agent. The chemistry was kinda dull, probably because it was secondary, which is okay in the sense the book was about the mission. But I really didn't need a HEA with Alex and Jack, probably because they were both so clueless about their feelings for one another. Truly I enjoyed the dialogue it was easy going and even the usage of Spanish was well placed; My only wish was the transition into the faith moment would have been smoother and not so placed. Oh and there was one sex scene that felt completely random despite it being a married couple, it didn't feel necessary, I liked their flirtations. So if you are up for a story about a woman going from decoration to DEA undercover agent with beauty and faith all to help her country and herself in the end, then this book would be good to try.
