Reviewing and Reading books that were free or are free. You see, I finally caved and bought an eReader. Now I find I can't stop reading all the free books offered on the online market. Despite whether or not the book is a good read or not. In this blog I will weed through all books, whether it was amazing or a grammatically sad excuse for a book, because the point in the end is . . . HEY, IT WAS FREE!
Maggie Moore is leaving small-town south Georgia behind to embrace adulthood on her own in big-city Atlanta.
Finding inspiration in the unique people she’s met covering obscure sporting events, Maggie decides it’s time to fill her life with adventure – just as soon as she figures out how to cut ties with good ol’ Murphy, and his pesky laws, once and for all.
Naturally, the universe has different plans.
Before she even sets out to cover her next big story, Maggie is bombarded with old wounds and new insecurities, forcing her to choose between the reality in front of her and the promise of a dream just out of reach.
Channeling the hard-fought lessons of her Dad, Maggie struggles against the seemingly insurmountable force that is her troublesome partner, learning the hard way that things are never as easy as you think they’ll be.
My Thoughts:He's Hot And Then Cold, Yes But Then No . . .
Poor Maggie Moore definitely has a lot more on her plate in this book. I love how honest and hilarious Maggie is while just trying to survive Murphy's law. Author Michelle Graves has a great series with interesting topics, fun characters and a frustrating "couple".
After the success of her first article, Maggie Moore is now moving out on her own. Of course it's by her mothers prodding, but Maggie is about to get her life started. Now if only she could get her love life sorted. Her heart is pulled between the trail hiker, Deacon, and her insufferable cameraman-partner, John. Logically Deacon is a safe choice to work towards building a relationship with, but John holds a piece of her heart even after the hurt he's caused. Especially since John's therapy sessions he's been running hot then cold and talking more cryptically with her throwing their relationship and Maggie's emotions towards him all over the place. So when she and John hit the road again for Chessboxing, Maggie hopes to figure him out or they may never get back to being friends.
Overall, good read about the ever entertaining Maggie Moore. This novel was definitely more about Maggie sussing out what she is looking for in relationships and how she feels towards John than anything else. Poor John is finally getting help but it's clear Maggie is still a big part of his life and recovery. Maggie is however caught in a love triangle of sorts, now that another man is asking for her attention so she of course talks it out to herself as only Maggie can. I must say the whole hot then cold act from John would turn me off in real life, but for Maggie, I'm hoping John just says the stupid words he needs to say so they can move ahead instead of ten million steps backwards. Oh and gotta love the epic Maggie fails of falling, getting hit or biting her tongue. My only issue was the fact her Maggie's mom was so "bye girl. hope life treat you well, don't call" which seemed kinda mean, but perhaps it's only my view of the situation because I only wish my mom was so hands off, but we're hispanic and attached at the hip till eternity. So anyways if you're a Maggie Moore fan read this novel and be ready to know all of Maggie's woes concerning her hopes in love and her new life as a reporter. Can't wait for more of Maggie Moore!
**This novella serves as a stepping stone into the Soul Savers series as it enters a whole new era. You don’t need to have read the previous books to understand and enjoy this one.**
- SYNOPSIS -
As matriarch of Earth’s Angels, Alexis Knight is charged with leading the world to recover and
rebuild after being ravaged by human and supernatural wars. So far, the challenge hasn’t been
too difficult as most of Earth’s inhabitants remain in underground bunkers. Alexis’s own
community, The Loft, is in trouble. Their water source is drying up, so she and her elite team go
to the surface to find a new one. But in a surprise attack by a new kind of legendary creature,
Alexis loses her memory of who & what she is.
While her team scrambles to find the antidote to the black magic affecting her mind, Alexis
makes new plans of her own. Until her memory returns, though, her abilities as a leader are
questioned, especially when an outside group arrives to initiate a coup against her and her team.
First of all the fact this book exists is an answer to prayer, because the Soul Savers series was set to be finished, BUT surprise to us fans it's now continuing! And of course author Kristie Cook starts this bridge into the next part of the series with a doozy of a story with this novella. I seriously can't wait for book 8 to be released and see what our favorite characters will do for the world. Awakening amongst strangers calling her by name and talking to her with familiarity, Alexis can't recall who she is or what happened to her memory. Confused about herself but still able to recall skills and some abilities here and there, Alexis feels wholly out of place, especially when looked to as a the Angel's Army leader in the post-apocalyptic world. Then of course there is a certain man named Tristan that makes her react to him in a way she can't control, but still has no memory of. So when danger and sickness begins to fall upon the underground base Alexis has to decide to help fight or flee. And the biggest question remains will she ever retrieve her memory or push on without it?
Overall, great icebreaker into the next novels. This novella helps remind readers what happened last time, as well as explaining a bit of what's been going on in the meantime. Alexis has amnesia and it's heartbreaking to see her doubt herself, especially when she interacts with Tristan and her babies. Poor Tristan got a taste of single parenting this time around, yet handles like he's super hot dad. All that said, I loved how much stronger Alexis became after everything was resolved, because with the hint of what's to come for the group it looks like the rebuilding of the world will be hard work to say the least. So definitely grab the novella to tied you over as the next novel is sure to be great.
What the hell do I know about raising a baby? Nothing. Not a goddamn thing.
Yet here I am, the sole guardian of my niece. I’d be lost if it weren’t for Katherine, the beautiful girl who seems to have all the answers. Katherine, who’s slowly finding her way into my cynical heart.
I keep reminding myself that I can’t fall for someone when we don’t have a future. But telling myself this lie and believing it are two different things.
When Brady shows up on a Harley, looking like an avenging angel—six feet, three inches of chiseled muscle, eyes the color of wild sage, and sun-kissed skin emblazoned with tattoos—I’m not sure if I should fall at his feet or run like hell. Because if I tell him what happened the night his family died, he might hate me.
What I don’t count on are the nights we spend together trying to forget the heartache that brought us here. I promise him it won’t mean anything, that I won’t fall in love.
I shouldn’t make promises I can’t keep.

WOW! Lex Martin had me crying than laughing than blushing. Oh this story will have you tied up in so many emotions and loving every second of it. I truly love these characters and their story, especially a certain baby, who is too cute for words. At 26 years old, Brady Shepard is trying to do right by his family while figuring out his life. So when tragedy strikes leaving his father in the hospital and his brother gone, Brady is takes it all upon himself to try and fix everything despite his own grief and pain. Katherine Duran is taking care of the farm and the baby girl, Isabella, while awaiting Brady's arrival. For a few months Katherine had been staying with her best friend Melissa and her husband Cal on their farm, while she planned out her next step in life after quitting a great job and leaving a jerk of an old boyfriend. But after the tragic death of her friends, Katherine is unsure of what will happen next, especially when Cal's brother rides up on a Harley looking sinfully hot all tatted up. Katherine and Brady become close as they deal with their loss while taking care of the farm and Izzy, but will they admit their relationship has become more than a fling? Overall, emotional hot goodness. I love how well paced this novel was allowing readers to fall for the characters before they fell for each other. Katherine was hilarious, despite living with a hot man, she wasn't afraid to let her nerd show and be real. Also love how she was Mexican and that Lex touched on a few issues that many girls in Kat's position feel as the first in the family to break free from their parents social class. As for Brady, me oh my, a man who is rough sex appeal on the outside but gooey heart of gold on the inside, yep I want one. Those moments where Brady interacts with his niece Izzy just melt your heart. Oh and there is an epilogue that you'll be thankful is in there cause of it wasn't you'd probably be pissed. So if you're looking for a story about two people looking for their way in life who are brought together by tragedy and can't say what they really feel for each other in fear of holding back the other, than you'll love this book.
Lex writes adult novels, the sexy kind with lotsa angst, a whole lotta kissing, and the hot happily ever afters. When she's not writing, she lives a parallel life as an English teacher. She loves printing black and white photos, listening to music on vinyl, and getting lost in a great book. Bitten by wanderlust, she's lived all over the country but currently resides in the City of Angels with her husband and twin daughters.

Colum Harrow kicked his nephew out of his home so that he’d move on with his life and stop moping around the house over a lost love. Unfortunately, he was unable to follow his own advice, and has lived in isolation for years with the guilt he had failed to protect the woman he loved from an abusive husband. Now, she returns to his hometown to see the birth of her granddaughter, and he must face his failures and the woman who owns his heart. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My Thoughts:Think Of The Future
Oh my what a thrilling yet sweet reconciling romance! The main characters have a history and work through a lot, but the end is oh so sweet. The Riverbend series is definitely becoming one of my favorite curl up in a blanket with some hot coco reads.
Now that her daughter Anna is married and pregnant, Kathleen 'Kate' Baker is settling back into the peaceful town of Riverbend, TN. Kate is having to learn how to let go of all the bad memories from her past with her drunk father and abusive husband Tom. Especially, the night which lead to her packing up and fleeing Riverbend with Anna and leaving the one man she ever loved behind. Colum Harrow has only loved one woman even when she married an evil abusive man. So when Colum helped hide Kate from Tom in hopes of them finally having a chance and she suddenly left. Never knowing why Kate left has made Colum an emotional hermit and damaged his relationship with his nephew Liam. But when Kate arrives back in town and needs his help, Colum has to decide if opening up his heart to Kate is worth it?
Overall, loved it! The romance of reconciling the hurt of the past was beautiful, but the added the suspense added a special element as well. Having a book on Kate helped me understand and appreciate her character, since she seemed a bit odd and controlling with Anna in the first novel. However, this novel shows why and makes a reader see Kate in a different light. As for Colum, he's apparently not that grumpy old man I had pictured in my mind, but is a good hearted man who lost his heart and couldn't cope. I can't wait to read more tales from Riverbend, because for a small town they have a great group of people and stories to tell. Plus there is a baby on the way. So if you love a woman trying to free herself from an abusive elusive man while entering a into a relationship that is way past due, you love this book.
