So it's been a while since I've properly blogged or reviewed a book, especially a free book.
Why?
Well that's all thanks to controlling Amazon.
I've amassed a HUGE library on my Amazon account and was recently told by them that I could no longer post customer reviews.
If you're in tune with the book community at all, you'll know that Amazon has been cracking down on accounts that post reviews for money or free products; which greatly affects those who read and reviews books from authors or publishers.
For the past few months I had been trying to have my reviews, some of which hadn't even been about books, reposted since those reviews had been my life for the past 3 almost 4 years. But all my emails were for nought as Amazon told me their verdict was final in longer allowing me to post reviews for anything books, electronics, pet items, car parts . . nothing. Their email actually made me laugh since they basically called me biased and inclusion with publishers and authors.
Now I will admit I know a few authors, I mean how could I not after all the promoting I've done the last few years.
But the one thing I am NOT is biased.
I am honest.
My reviews were not all 5 stars in fact a lot were 3 stars and below, because that was what the story deserved, I did not just rating favorably to help a author sell more books.
The goal of my reading and reviewing was (and still is) to showcase novels both good or bad, so that readers can know what to expect before reading a novel.
So not to be deterred by this mess, I've set up another Amazon account and am trying to post reviews up that way, but we'll see how long Amazon will let me go on there. My last account had me up to #8000 in the whole site of reviews before Amazon's little evil bots tagged me as a bad egg, so here's hoping I can make it into the hundreds before they tag me again.
In the meantime, pushing the Amazon drama out of my mind. I will get back to blogging on here, my blog, where I control my reviews and posts.
