My Thoughts: Lovers of Vampires Will Adore This Colony
As a person who has read more than a fair share of vampire books, I'm glad to say these books were a joy to read rather than just a paranormal romance without all the dramatics of teenage fluff found in most other vampire related stories. Each book tied into the other with the characters, but highlighted a new couple and new circumstances that needed their special expertise.

"Eternal Service"-
Great introduction into the world which the COLONY lives and thrives as a special unit of vampire who protect the President of the United States from other supernatural threats. The team is lead by Raymond a 199 year old vampire who is a devout widower and father to a half-breed son, named Sterling. Raymond is without a doubt the most loyal and sweetest vampire male. So when he finally finds himself attracted to someone its so hard to see it be the new human liaison for his division, named Alex. She is tough and capable of meeting him eye to eye, Alex is a great female lead who asks all the right questions to find out what it's like to be a vampire. A reader will know a lot from Alex and Raymond's conversations about vampirism, all while seeing their chemistry grow.

"United Service"-
After Raymond and Alex, have their ending, I was dying to read this story because I knew it would be about Sterling, Raymond's son. Sterling came off as a gross playboy jerk with somewhat no feelings in the first book. However, over the pages you begin to see his half-breed status is what is torturing him and causing his lack of true companionship and ultimately love. So this book is him finding out he may just find what he thought was unattainable for something as low as a halfbreed. And boy is she a tit-for-tat kind of girl who can match him in just the way he needs.

"Enduring Service"-
This one I wasn't expecting too much from just because the characters hadn't really pulled to me much before but I was wrong. Dixon is apart of the Colony as much as any real member is, so when Sulie is taken it's great to see him go all Liam Neesen (that's how I picture him). The action in this book exceeded the amounts of the last few, but it was all with purpose behind it so I can understand it. Either way enjoyed it and the few other important moments from other characters in the Colony.

Overall, I enjoyed the stories and the characters. The overall vampire concept and plot idea is unique and seeing that the stories have enough depth to cover multiple novels is a great benefit to readers. The characters are very likable despite the dialogue being stunted at times, but the action and crime solving plots more than pull their weight in excellence. The fact that these vampires are geared to be in our world but staying hidden and helping us is something that makes them more honorable and definitely more appealing. So if you are interesting in reading a series on vampires who live together as a family and work as a team for the government to protect the president and help in other supernatural related cases, than this series will definitely be an interesting read.
