Hey, It's A Blog Tour for "Marry Me Mad" by Katy Regnery
My Thoughts: Inconvenient But Wondrous Second Chance
This is my first read in the Blueberry Lane Series and I can tell why author, Katy Regnary, has so many novels and fans. The novel is filled with steamy chemistry and a love that is undeniable even if practically forbidden. A reader can definitely read this novel as a standalone without feeling lost, as the story has a wonderful ending.
Getting a huge promotion should be a moment shared joyously with ones boyfriend of three years, so when Madeleine “Mad” Rousseau decides to call Thatcher to share in her happiness, her world goes bleak when a woman picks up his hotel phone. Mad can no longer deny what she's suspected before and immediately breaks up with the cheater. Lost and emotional, Mad wanders into a questionable area of town where she suddenly hears a beautiful melody coming from a hidden French bar. Inside Mad not only finds the solace of alcohol for her breakup misery but an old childhood friend named Cortlandt “Cort” Ambler, who happened to be the pianist that beckoned her inside with his playing. Cort can't believe his Mad stumbled into the bar he happened to be playing in and only too quickly helps her when she needs someone the most. It becomes clear to Cort that years apart aren't enough to have made him forget his attraction to the sweet but sassy Rousseau twin. The big problem with trying to pursue Mad, the most perfect woman in his book, is their shared past with Cort being the ex-boyfriend of Mad's twin sister Jax. Mad only let's Cort in so far before pushing him away knowing what kind of a betrayal it would be to Jax if they became a couple. But Cort isn't about to let Mad go without a fight. The question is will Mad give up Cort and a chance at true happiness for her sister's past and present feelings?
Overall, nice sweet and steamy read. The main characters were obviously very much in love with each other and it was so painful to read when Mad would stop Cort mid moment. Poor Cort had so much love to show Mad and if it wasn't for his past of dating Jack, Mad and Cort surely would have had a different story. Mad as character was strong and resilient, despite how she finds Cort after her breakup, a reader is shown that Mad's will is strong and her love equally as just especially for her family. Now Cort, practically perfect male, not only saying what he wants but also showing and doing so much to prove his love and affection. Only wish he was real because then he would be truly perfect *sigh. Now my only issue was the quick resolutions to the hyped up roadblocks to Mad and Cort's HEA. Mad has her final confrontation with Thatcher and it's wonderful but is quickly followed but her talk with Jax. Two great moments before the last big moment and then it was over, leaving me kinda going that's it but still feeling happy so can't complain too much. So if you're looking for a novel about two people who reconnect only to find they were always meant to be and have to decide if the past will ruin their possible future, then you'll enjoy this novel.
