My Thoughts: Friend or Foe?
      Sequel to TS901: Anomaly, Authors Stacy Rourke and Tish Thawer have written anther chapter to rise and rebellion of the Mallies. The beaten down group from The Hive are no longer addicts, drunkards, or cowards but are rebel and fighters for freedom and equality.
    The team is spread out fighting for their freedom against the Nary army. Now the symbol of hope and resistance, Thia leads her group from Nary base to base, all while avoiding the big whole in her heart. So while Evan would like nothing more than to kiss and make up Thia knows what it’s like to lose him and fears letting him in again. But when Lance comes with a vision saying Giselle is in trouble and held back in The Hill. Thia decides no matter the cost she’s going after her BFF. Risen from their literal hole in the ground, Thia, Lance, and her ‘Maly’ brethren have escaped The Hive and now face a full-on war. Welcoming the distraction from her abysmal love life, Thia throws herself into training the troops and claiming Nary bases. The only problem for the group things don’t appear to be what they seem and the Hill is packed with one too many enemies within.
    Overall, this story freaking had me there for a bit! Without giving up spoilers I was actually afraid that some people turned coat and that people died, but once you see and read you’ll breathe a bit like I did. I love how a few couples emerge in this book, I know it’s mostly Thia and Evan but some cute moments occur for others too that I think beat out Thia and Evan. Now I’m dying for the next novel because I want more and more of bff and boyfriends kicking butt together as Naries vs. Malies lines begin to blur and the issue now becomes just simply good versus evil. Can't wait till next novel!

Hey, It's A Review Blitz for "The Complicated Love Series" by Neeny Boucher

by Neeny Boucher

The Complicated Love Series:
"Back of Beyond"(Book 1)

"Lost in Flight"(Book 2)

"Ties that Bind"(Book 3)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Excerpt from Lost in Flight:
Christina, Shanwick, The Present, 2012
Skin meets skin, trailing promises and desire. Feathery breaths whisper on Christina’s shoulders. Her eyes snap open, squinting at the morning sun. The dull throb in her head gives notice, as does fierce thirst.
Her tongue seeks moisture on her lips, but there’s none. Christina’s stomach roils. Her breath is radioactive. She makes her own self feel sick.
Blue walls, a dresser, and a familiar door: recognition tugs at her consciousness. Christina knows this room, but hasn’t been here in a long, long time. She’s also naked and not alone.
Wrapped around her is her ex-husband, ex-love of her life, and persona non grata, Nicholas Riley. Riley’s fast asleep, breathing heavily, and his hands are wandering up her body. One lands on her boob, clutching, groping.
Christina jerks forward, shrugging him off. She opens and closes her eyes, counting to ten. Nothing changes and he is still here.
The gory details of last night are behind the ominous, pulsating fog in her head. The man, the lack of clothing, and the rumpled bedding indicate what it involved. Adrenaline responds to her internal alarm.
If he wakes… A myriad of awkward scenarios run free-flow through her head. This will be the fastest exit of shame in the history of exits of shame.
Extracting herself finger by finger from Riley’s death grip, Christina slips over the side of the bed. The room sways, rocking back and forth. She lurches forward on wobbly legs.
Christina’s bladder aches. She needs to do things, desperate things… human things. She just can’t do them naked.
Her little blue dress is at the end of the bed. Hunching down, she crawls to retrieve it. A quick search for her other belongings throws up further questions. Draped at an odd angle on the mirror are her panties. It looks like someone slingshot them.
Cringe lands on Christina’s face in big, red, heat spots. What did she do? Scratch that. Willful ignorance is sometimes a kindness.
Her bra, shoes, and handbag are nowhere to be seen. The bras and shoes are manageable, but the handbag is a problem. Her life is in there.
Hauling on her dress, Christina slinks over to her panties, pulling them on with a hop and a bump. She recoils at the woman in the mirror. Smeared mascara accentuates dark brown eyes and then there’s the lipstick. It’s everywhere: face, teeth, chin, and neck.
But, the makeup is nothing in comparison to the hair. Her after-sex hair is an 80’s rock video. Dragging her fingers through it, she winces. Taming it is a lost cause and also, she doesn’t want to anger it.
Years ago, this wouldn’t have bothered her. She was “Dina,” high school Queen of the Outcast Crew, and a true believer in grunge. By today’s standards, Christina Martin, lawyer, she is a complete mess.
Wiping as much of last night’s makeup off as she can, Christina creeps to the door. Riley hasn’t moved, just rolled over onto his back and settled in the space she vacated. Taking a deep breath, she blows it out of her mouth quietly.
I can do this. I can get out of here and if anything comes of it, I can use the old lawyer’s trick of: deny, avoid, defer, and engage. There is also “settlement,” but that is the last resort.
Christina’s hand is on the bedroom door handle. She freezes at the crunching sound it makes. Every nerve ending is on high alert, but the silence from him allows her to relax.
She pulls the door toward her, but it sticks. She pushes and pulls, but it will not budge. Horror sweats break out.
“Good morning.” Riley’s raspy, amused voice hits her senses like an old lover’s caress. Intimate, knowing. It sends chills up her spine.
My Thoughts: When Loathe Turns to Love
         This was probably one of the strangest most entertaining yet insightful reads this year. The story is told in third person alternating dual narrative, which threw at first but after the first few chapters I quickly fell into the story and characters. The novel is young adult, but is filled with many issues such as self insecurities, family and social problems in a fun, and at times, very deep ways.
       In this little town of Shanwicks the back of beyond place in nowheres land a place where people think highly of everyone's opinion of each other. So when Christina 'Dina' Martin is taunted and teased mercilessly by the "Anys" aka the it or cool girls in school, Dina's best friends Mandy and Bonnie decide the time is now to hatch a plan. Their trios mission is to become just cool enough to be above the Anys but not too bad; The problem is Dina needs to get into her brother's band and one member really hates her. Nicholas Riley is part of the Outcast Crew, though he comes from old money, Riley likes to be on the outside. Not one for rules or much of anything, Riley is the bad boy of the town who isn't to be messed with. Which is why he and Dina clash, she is Perfect and he's everything but. So when Dina sings and Riley realizes she is so much more than meets the eye, things for them just get a whole lot more complicated. Especially with his troubled past and her families expectations.
         Overall, loved this book. I'm Fully surprised by how much depth there was sprinkled into moments here in and there. Dina is not your typical female lead, she never wanted the guy or anyone for that matter yet found herself falling for someone she should resent. Riley is the bad boy turned good, but was secretly always the good boy who just became bad because that's what people labeled him. The subject of bullying in this book tackles many aspects of the issue but one was highlighted pertaining to Dina being slut shamed, the way Dina talked it through was brilliant and had me bring it up as conversation amongst my friends. Oh and I loved how fierce Dina's friends were when it came to anything, I'm a huge fan of best friend power in literature, Mandy and Bonnie are amazing support even if only there to gossip with sometimes. Actually, the whole Martin family was supportive and a great cast of characters, who reminded me of my family, minus the parent with the accent. Now the only thing I had an issue with was there was a moment of assault, that should have been dealt with more in a legal way or at least with parents. Anytime a woman is assaulted it needs to be dealt with not hidden. Apart from that the only other issue I could see is if readers do not get comfortable with the narrative form and switching perspectives. So if you are looking for a story about a town bad boy falling for schools quirky but new hot singer while everyone and everything comes between them, then you'll enjoy this book.
NEW FINAL-YesterdaysTomorrows
- SYNOPSIS -
If growing up in her home wasn’t enough to shatter Madelyn Stone’s illusions of happily ever after, then serving several years behind bars certainly was. Her crime? Believing in family and growing up on the wrong side of the tracks.
 She’s learned the hard way that there is no such thing as a prince who’ll ride in and save the day, and she pledges never to trust anyone again. Never. Between a career in the Marines and plans to marry his childhood sweetheart, Holten Andrews had his future all mapped out…until life took an unexpected, heart-ripping turn. Now he’s moved on with a new career in law, as well as vowing to confine women to one of three categories: family, professional, and f*ckable. No blurring the lines. Ever. Love is the last thing on Maddy’s mind as she attempts to forge a new path out of the wreckage of her life.
Holt’s sense of loyalty is rocked when he’s blindsided by feelings for a woman he would normally condemn. When revelations from Maddy’s past threaten her safety, Maddy has to put her faith in Holt, while Holt fights not to lose the one woman who’s blurred all of his lines. Every choice they make will figure into whether or not they can make yesterday’s dreams still come true tomorrow.
My Thoughts: Blurred Lines And New Chapters
             I'm crying and happy and just oh so in love with this novel! Yet again author M.E.Montgomery has produced an emotional poignant story that shows healing through love and understanding. You may not personally identify with the characters and their exact situations, but there's a part of them that will pull you in and hold you close.
         Recently released from prison for murder, in defense of herself and sister, Madelyn 'Maddy' Stone is finally free after 6 years. Having been given a chance to start a new thanks to a old friend and new program through a law firm, Maddy is ready to begin her life. But life on the outside is hard to adjust too, especially when trust is something Maddy has long lost. So when a moody but gorgeous lawyer helps Maddy more times thanks she can count, Maddy can't help but wonder if he wants something in return. Holten 'Holt' Andrews is intrigued by Maddy, everything about her call to him, even her sassy quick tongue. Holt has promised not to love another since his Claire, but Maddy tempts him and brings him to life. So when Maddy's life is threaten Holt I makes it his mission to protect her at all cost, even keeping her by his side when his instinct is to push her away for fear of falling in love.
         Overall, great read and I LOVE Holt and Maddy!! Maddy's story just tore me to pieces and the fact she never felt worthy of love but loved unconditionally was so touching. And Holt so sexy, especially when he showed Maddy she was worthy of being loved, and proved to her that she was truly beautiful inside and out. They were broken from their past but healed each other by simply loving the other, and accepting them for everything they are and were. I also loved that Maddy gets resolution by having her past and family issues come forth and no spoilers but it's sad and yet beautiful. Oh and the love the two of them make is hot and steamy, but so tender when Maddy first learns to love and Holt basically learns to love again, it's beautiful. So if you are up for reading about a girl trying to adjust to life after prison and a man trying to live after his life stopped, only to find they live best together, then this will be a great book for you.
My Thoughts: Danger In Dreamtown
        I'm seriously starting to dream about small town country life, especially if my life can be anything like the Riverbend novels. This series and characters continues to become better and better making me, a big time city girl, want to pack a bag and head south east.  I swear the plot depth and intrigue weaved into the tit for tat flirty romance is exactly my type of romance read and author Ciara Knight delivers in full. Now this is the 3rd novel in the series but you can pick up here in the series and be just fine.
       Chasing her next big story has been Charlotte Rutledge purpose, especially when she can help save lives in the process. However, Charlotte isn't an ordinary reporter as she genuinely has an interest in taking down the bad guys not for money but to get justice, something she was never able to achieve for her younger sister. But when Charlotte digs into a dangerous story involving a cartel a certain annoying FBI agent is sent to stop her article and make sure she's doesn't leak anything important to their ongoing case. Agent Brady Lasiter has always been about the job and making sure his mission is complete by any means necessary so when he meets his match in the reporter, Brady can't help but admire and hate her. Brady hopes to persuade Charlotte into stopping her article before she exposes herself to the cartel, but when a death threat appears all bets are off and he'll protect Charlotte at all costs. The problem is will Charlotte let her guard down enough to accept help from someone or will her stubborn heart keep her from accepting Brady in more than one way?
      Overall, L-O-V-E-D IT!! Charlotte and Brady are fire and ice but together just to cute! Brady is definitely a man I'd love to see sweep into my life and hold babies like a natural, cause men and babies hot! While Charlotte kindred spirit in being self sufficient, but she definitely had a lot to learn even as "all" knowing reporter. I was happy Charlottes friends helped cool her overly journalistic attitude, or else I'd probably not have liked as much as I grew to love her. Oh and I loved having past characters be really involved in this book lending to the whole small town everyone knows everything kinda feel. So if you haven't read any novels in the series I suggest ya do so and enjoy a quaint town where crazy things can happen but a HEA is sure to come just around the Riverbend.
