Managing teams to record history can be stressful enough, but when the government tries to take possession of the proprietary technology from the privately held Historical Preservation Agency, dedicated historian, Caleb Hunter, must rely upon a well- connected, and sexy, developer at a government agency for help.
Can the two of them keep time travel in the hands of historians?
This is a short story. It is a prequel to the novel, "Time Historian.

My Thoughts: Preserving the Past In the Future
This was a nice introduction into the Time Historian novel and hopefully more novels thereafter. I am a sucker for all things history related and the premise of this story got my attention immediately. Sadly just when things got good and started to pull me in the story was over.
Working in the year 2192, Caleb Hunter is employed by the privately owned and operated company the Historical Preservation Agency, which utilizes special technology that sends digital recorders back in time to witness history. The mission of the records is to preserve moments in history via holographic images for the contemporary world to view as if they themselves were there. However, after an accident involving green energy Caleb begins suspect the government maybe trying to get their hands on the coveted technology. Enlisting the help of a government contact named Janice, Caleb and Janice begin to unravel a plot against the HPA, working together they may just save the organization.
Overall, it's a promising start, but I want more and am looking forward to it. The fact that the HPA is focused on literally bringing the past to the future aka the characters present is a historians dream come true. To see the real moment of the past is unfathomable, but in fiction it's s beautiful dream. Caleb is a straight arrow kind of guy trying to do right in s world where corruption is just around the corner. Meanwhile Janice is just trying to find herself and branch out from under her fathers influence. Together they paired well but their romance couldn't grow too much because of the length. But in hoping to read more about them later on. I actually would have preferred more flirting or the hint of romance than the actual kiss moment which felt oddly placed. Anyways, best part was Caleb's moment of living through the signing and drafting of the Declaration of Independence. It felt real to me as if I too was there with Caleb viewing the projection, loved it. So if you're interested history and those who preserve in the future by traveling in the past to record at the risk of their lives and humanity, these novels look very interesting.

EXCERPT
“Hello, Janice?” the man said. “This is Caleb Hunter from the Historical Preservation
Agency. I’m sorry for reaching you on your private line, but I couldn’t reach you at your
office. How are you doing?”
She sat straighter in her seat and her tongue ran across her teeth searching for any
stray breakfast bits. She raked one hand through her short blond hair as the other one
brushed under her eyes clearing any runny mascara. “I’m doing great, Caleb. How are
you doing?”
“I’m fine,” he said. “Do you have an estimated time of delivery for the HPA’s shipment
of the safety valves we worked on together.”
She noticed a fake smile appeared on his face. She had spent hours on the com-center
talking with the man; she recognized his real smile when she saw it. This wasn’t it.
“Is there something wrong with the order?” she said in a breathy and heady way.
Good Lord. She couldn’t stop herself from batting her eyelashes at him. How strong
were her drinks? The waiter must have changed his recipe. Then again, Caleb was the
most delicious man she had ever seen. How many times had she lingered on the com-
unit just to talk to him? She had lost count.
“We never received our shipment from Bright Tech,” he said.
Well, hell. That was no longer her problem, now was it? “I’m sorry. You’ll have to
contact Bright Tech for that information.”
He smiled wider now and she thought the smile looked even more fake. “I was hoping
since we’re friends that you would give me the status real quick. Maybe I could pick up
the shipment myself.”
She offered him a big smile, liking that he used the word friends. She assumed he tried
to flirt with her, and he was doing a bad job of it. She was only on her third drink, and
this conversation seemed a bit odd to her. “I’m sorry. I’m on furlough from Bright Tech.
You can reach me at my office in three months. That is, if the furlough ends by then, or
if I still have a job.”
